Exercise the Eco-friendly Way – Good for You, Good for the Environment

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

There’s a gym close to our offices, and every day we watch people drive up, hop out of their car with a plastic water bottle in hand, and run inside for their workout. Forty minutes or so later, out they come, jump into their cars and drive off – no water bottle to be seen.

It’s interesting that while that taking care of the environment is said to be of ‘high concern’ to most Americans, we seem unable to make small changes that can make a big difference.

Riding a bike to the gym for instance, walking and perhaps bringing your own water in a non-disposable water bottle. Even better, how about exercising outdoors when possible so we all learn to appreciate and respect the environment?

These days there’s no reason why we can’t exercise the eco-friendly way. There’s eco-friendly workout clothing made from hemp, bamboo and natural cotton; footwear made from recycled tires; eco-friendly exercise and yoga equipment made from natural rubber; even organic skin care for an environmentally-friendly after-workout shower.

So come on all you gym rats…do your part. For your health and the health of the environment.

New Retail Site Focuses on U.S. Made, Natural Products and Eco-friendly Promotions

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Get Rebounding, a retail company focusing on U.S. manufactured natural and non-toxic products, announced today the launch of the brand’s new retail website, GetRebounding.com. Much more than just another website selling natural and organic products, Get Rebounding is dedicated to promoting small U.S. and Canadian companies, while creating an eco-friendly shopping experience.

To celebrate the launch, Get Rebounding will be giving away Eco-reward coupons to all website visitors whether they make a purchase on the website or not. Visitors can use the coupons themselves or share with family and friends. The Eco-reward coupons will feature QR Codes, a 2-dimensional bar code that Get Rebounding customers can use to download offers and promotions to their mobile phones. Get Rebounding is the first online retail store in the U.S. to utilize QR Codes to enable customers to connect online and offline.

QR Codes were originally developed by Denso Wave (a division of Toyota) to keep track of auto parts. The difference between a QR Code and a standard bar code is that QR Codes hold a lot more information, can be read vertically and horizontally, can be placed on a variety of advertising mediums, and be accessed with one click on a mobile phone. That makes their promotional uses virtually endless. Get Rebounding is managing their QR Code marketing using QReateBUZZ, a free QR Code management, creation, tracking and analytics tool.

“We’re incredibly excited about the new website and to enter a new era in eco-friendly online and offline promotions,“ said Get Rebounding VP of Marketing, Jill McIver. “QR Codes are the ultimate eco-friendly marketing tool and mainstream adoption is steadily growing. We plan on rolling out more QR Code features on the website in the future.”
