Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

As a little contribution to all the Earth Day celebrations that are going on around the world, we’re having a buy one, get half off a second pair of Feelgoodz Natural Rubber Flip Flops. Just use coupon code ‘Feelgoodz’ at checkout.

Why Did We Choose Feelgoodz Natural Rubber Flip Flops?

Feelgoodz are one of the most eco-ethical, socially conscious, U.S. companies around today. The company has built a “Giving Model” that enables them to contribute portions of their revenues to causes they truly care about. As they grow, their contributions grow. So the more you support them, the more they can support their causes!

Here’s What Feelgoodz Does:

Feelgoodz is committed to creating a sustainable business, and they believe in steppin’ easy as we walk the earth. They use natural rubber. They use hemp. They use bamboo. They use recycled paper and recycled flop hangers. They’re not environmentalists, but they doing their part. And their contribution of 1% for the Planet enables them to support environmental organizations worldwide.

One of the main reasons Feelgoodz started their business was to give back to the people of Thailand that gave so much to them. They feel it is imperative to ensure that every Thai employee that they work with is treated fairly. They don’t condone child labor. They demand fair wages and expect proper working conditions. Currently, there are no natural rubber fair trade programs set in place, and therein lies part of their part of the cause. It’ll take the company a while, but they aim to create the necessary systems and processes to implement a Fair Trade Natural Rubber Program in Thailand.

Another part of Feelgoodz mission is to strengthen the communities in Thailand, especially in Phitsanulok. The company founders plan to develop an infrastructure that focuses on creating and sustaining healthy economies for the people in Southeast Asia.

Kiva.org is a 501(c)3 non-profit micro-financing organization that lets you lend to a specific entrepreneur in the developing world – empowering them to lift themselves out of poverty. Feelgoodz donates 1% of their revenues to Kiva’s general operating expenses, in hopes that the company will use those funds to create micro-financing operations in Thailand.

Exercise the Eco-friendly Way – Good for You, Good for the Environment

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

There’s a gym close to our offices, and every day we watch people drive up, hop out of their car with a plastic water bottle in hand, and run inside for their workout. Forty minutes or so later, out they come, jump into their cars and drive off – no water bottle to be seen.

It’s interesting that while that taking care of the environment is said to be of ‘high concern’ to most Americans, we seem unable to make small changes that can make a big difference.

Riding a bike to the gym for instance, walking and perhaps bringing your own water in a non-disposable water bottle. Even better, how about exercising outdoors when possible so we all learn to appreciate and respect the environment?

These days there’s no reason why we can’t exercise the eco-friendly way. There’s eco-friendly workout clothing made from hemp, bamboo and natural cotton; footwear made from recycled tires; eco-friendly exercise and yoga equipment made from natural rubber; even organic skin care for an environmentally-friendly after-workout shower.

So come on all you gym rats…do your part. For your health and the health of the environment.

Making the Right Choice - Eco-friendly and Ethical Shopping

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

As we all try to do our best to reduce our carbon footprints and preserve the earth, it’s often a little more difficult than we think. Finding eco-friendly products that are affordable is a challenge in itself and despite our ‘commitment to the cause’ sometimes it’s easier to give up looking and resort to buying non-eco-friendly items.

The crew at Get Rebounding ask that you try not to give up. There’s always an alternative, so when possible buy eco-friendly items online and give your business to companies that are dedicated to incorporating green business practices into their daily strategy and operations.

In addition, we believe it’s not just about being eco-friendly. It’s about ethics. Before you make that purchase, ask yourself the following:

Does the company you’re purchasing from make sure that:

  • Working conditions must be safe and hygienic
  • Minimum wages are paid to all workers
  • Working hours are not too long
  • Employment is freely chosen
  • Child labor is never used
  • No discrimination in whatever shape or form is practiced
  • No harsh or inhumane treatment (of humans and animals) is tolerated

If in doubt, we suggest you spend your money elsewhere.
